Our Staff

KCT occupational therapy practitioners have extensive experience in assessment, intervention and advocacy. Our practitioners hold occupational therapy licenses through the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulations and are credentialed through the State of Illinois Early Intervention credentialing office. All practitioners are registered with the National Board of Certification for Occupational Therapists.

Caren Schranz DrOT, MS, OTR/L

Caren has been a practicing occupational therapist for over 28 years. She began her OT career in 1990 and has worked in a variety of pediatric practice settings including early intervention, schools, private practice and home health. She has extensive experience in evaluation and intervention planning. Caren believes in a family-centered approach and views collaboration with the family as an important component that leads to improved outcomes. Using a model of coaching allows for educating the family and problem-solving to find solutions that will support the child. Caren has always had a passion for children and believes that children should be given every chance to reach their highest potential.

Caren has a proven reputation and is considered an expert in the field. She has extensive training in Sensory Processing. As the owner of KCT, Caren has defined the values of the practice, to treat all families as if they were her own. This philosophy is practiced by all KCT occupational therapy practitioners. Caren received her Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from Rush University, Chicago, IL in 1990 and her Post Professional Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy from Governors State University, University Park, IL in 2011. Caren is a researcher and has published several articles related to supporting children and families in participation in play.

Margo Powell MOT, OTR/L
Occupational Therapist

Margo is married and has two sons. Both boys benefitted from occupational therapy services through Early Intervention and the school district. At the time, Margo was an art conservator but was driven to OT after watching her sons receive treatment. Margo returned to school to pursue her career in occupational therapy and graduated from Governors State University in 2011 with her Master of Occupational Therapy degree.

Margo enjoys working with children and families in the home environment. Margo also serves as an adjunct professor in the MOT program at GSU.

Joni Kamstra COTA
Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant

Joni has been a COTA (certified occupational therapy assistant) for 35 years. She has worked in Early Intervention, school districts, and private clinics. Joni is a passionate and energetic occupational therapy practitioner. She has a strong desire to touch the lives of many children in the Bradley, Bourbonnais and Kankakee areas. She is well-connected to the community where she lives and raised her 3 children.

Joni graduated from Illinois Central College in 1983. She has extensive knowledge through continuing education and training in sensory integration/sensory processing and Autism.

Alexis Lovinggood MOT, OTR/L
Occupational Therapist

Alexis works with children in Early Intervention and clinic-based services.
